Fall DominoFest 2010 featuring LotusLive, Novi, Michigan, #LotusKnows, IBMExperience, #LotusLive
Brian M O’Curran November 16 2010 03:52:20 PM
Hi Everyone,I've been meaning to post this for a couple days now. Mike Sobczak and the good folks at Aktion Associates are bringing us another stellar event in the Metro Detroit area. Long time Lotus rockstar and good friend Lisa Learned is kicking it off with a run-down on LotusLive. A hot topic right now is xpages and what they can do for your Domino apps. Mike's just the man to peel that down. Suzanne then rounds out the day with an update on ND 8.5.2 and a tour of Tivoli Directory Integrator.
All that and - if I'm not mistaken, lunch too!? Seriously, where can you get level of entertainment anymore?
Mike, thanks for putting this together, you are the man!
Of course, I'll be there, shaking hands and kissin' babies... :-)
Hope to see you there!
Brian

| Speaker: Topic: | Michael Sobczak, Senior Domino Developer, Aktion Associates Introduction to xPages xPages were added to Lotus Domino with the release of 8.5. xPages bring many new capabilities to Domino developers, all within the familiar context of the Domino Designer and Domino databases and templates. As a result, many organizations will need to reevaluate how they proceed with utilizing xPages, both for existing Notes and Domino applications and new applications. Join Michael Sobczak as he will discuss how xPages development differs from traditional Domino development, and also demonstrate how to add xPages to an average Notes application. | |
| Speaker: Topic: | Suzanne Wilson, Senior Domino Administrator, Aktion Associates Tivoli Directory Integrator Did you ever have to move data in or out of Domino? Yes, I thought you may have. There are plenty of tools out there, such as DECS, LEI, third-party tools, and home grown solutions, but they're limited in function or expensive or costly to maintain. There's one you may not have considered, it's free (if you have current licensing for Domino), and it can be used by administrators, developers, and even some expert users. Tivoli Directory Integrator, or TDI, is a stand-alone software product with a misleading name which will import, export and transform data between directories, databases, collaborative systems and corporate applications. Suzanne Wilson will talk about what it does, why you might want to use it, and how to get started. | |
| Speaker: Topic: | Suzanne Wilson, Senior Domino Administrator, Aktion Associates Lotus Notes / Domino 8.5.2 Update Suzanne Wilson will review the August release of Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino 8.5.2. This release provides enhancements for both the end users in Lotus Notes, Lotus iNotes, and Lotus Notes Traveler, and benefits for developers through enhancements to Domino Designer. The 8.5.2 Notes client improves real-time communication and collaboration. Lotus iNotes delivers usability and productivity gains with improved performance and support for additional devices. Lotus Traveler enhancements include more device options and a new server option. And the updates to Domino Designer include improvements to LotusScript and xPage editors, XPage performance improvements, and usability improvements for working sets. | |
| Speaker: Topic: | Michael Sobczak, Aktion Associates What’s new with Lotus Mashups 2.0 Have you ever needed a report that combines data from several data sources within your organization, without having the time or money to wait for a new report to be created by the IT department? Have you ever wanted to view your organization's data alongside external data available on the web, without breaking data security rules in the process? Released in 2008, Lotus Mashups provides you with the ability to assemble data feeds and widgets within a web browser, without having to write complex code, or wait for someone to write it for you. Additionally, you can share feeds, widgets and mashup pages you've created with other users, effectively increasing the value of those assets while reducing the mashup development time for your coworkers. In this presentation, Mike Sobczak will provide an overview of Lotus Mashups and the InfoSphere Mashup Hub, the applications that enable you to create, assemble and share mashup elements with other users in your organization. Mike will then demonstrate how to create feeds from a relational data source and a Domino data source. Finally, Mike will demonstrate several mashup pages he developed for internal use that combine sales activity data from MS SQL Server, customer data in Domino with accounts receivable data in MySQL, and show how these mashup pages provide management with the critical data necessary to facilitate our sales initiatives. |
